Recruitment for the Dean of Sino-European School of Technology of Shanghai University
Shanghai University, as a member university of the national project 211, is a comprehensive university jointly established by China’s Ministry of Education and Shanghai Municipal Government. Shanghai University aims strategically to build into a leading global university with distinctive features. Shanghai University and French UT Education Group jointly established Sino-European School of Technology of Shanghai University (hereinafter referred to as UTSEUS), which was officially approved by China’s Ministry of Education. The joint school is fully supported by the two countries’ Education Ministry and Engineering Academy. UTSEUS was unveiled by Xu Kuangdi, the then President of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), and Francois Gino, President of the French Engineering Academy on November 5, 2006.
As the only international joint school of engineering in Shanghai University, UTSEUS introduces French engineering education mode, aiming to cultivate international senior engineers and engineering managers in Sino-French dual culture environment. UTSEUS is pursuing the goal of elite education through academic rigor, advanced teaching method, close industry relation, domestic and overseas research cooperation.
UTSEUS vision is to be a Sino-French joint school of engineering with international reputation, integrating the development of research, teaching and industry relations.

II. Required Qualifications
1. Applicants should be dedicated to education work, realistic and rigorous in knowledge with strong dedication, professional ethics, and teamwork spirit.
2. Applicants should be familiar with the laws of higher education and the status quo of China’s higher education. Strong organizing and coordinating capacities are also required.
3. Applicants should have international perspective with overseas study and work experience, and proper French or English communication skills.
4. Chinese applicants should be professors. Overseas applicants should hold tenured associate professorship or above in prestigious universities, or researchers in renowned research institutes.
5. Applicants should be healthy and work full-time.
III. Responsibilities
1. In charge of the administrative work of UTSEUS, consistent with the university’s strategies and objectives; stay sensitive to the frontiers of disciplines’ development and make school development plans; establish a better mechanism of teaching, researching, administrative management, and focus on improving the quality of student cultivation to achieve the localization of French engineer education.
2. Actively introduce academic leaders with strong academic influences, focus on building an excellent faculty team.
3. Strengthen cooperation with French UT Education Group, expand scientific research cooperation, and develop joint master programs.
4. Strengthen the cooperation with the industry, especially with the Sino-French enterprises, which will play an important role in the process of engineer education; promote scientific research cooperation with enterprises, contributing to the national and Shanghai local economic and social construction.
5. Responsible for the school’s overall budget management, the establishment of the school's input and output mechanism to enhance the efficiency in education and scientific research.
IV. Application Procedures
1. Applicants need to fill in the "Application form for school deans in Shanghai University", and provide the following documentation: (1) the copies of all certificates, including academic degree certificate(s), professional qualification certificate(s), honor certificate(s), etc.; (2) resume: including education experience, work experience, publications and scientific research projects undertaken in recent 5 years; (3) at least three reference letters from experts in the same field with the name and contact information of the referrers; (4)applicants’ working plan and objectives; (5)applicants’ expectations about working benefits, living conditions and other requests.
2. Qualification review and primary selection: review application documents, and invite candidates for academic speech or exchange in Shanghai University.
3. Interview and defense: applicants will be interviewed and inquired by the defense committee.
4. Determine the proposed candidates.
5. Publicity: publicize the result, and solicit views from all parties concerned.
6. Appointment: recruit and appoint the candidate in accordance with relevant procedures.
V. Employment term and benefits
A full-time position with a term of three years, including one year’s probationary.
Benefits will be provided based on the national and university’s regulations, or the specific agreement with the candidate.
